Jera the Wizard

they/them - age 30 - your new favorite video essay guy

Video Essays

Oh dang, I guess I'm trying to be a video essay guy now? I guess that tracks, my ambitions have always been disproportionate. Anyway, check my youtube if you're curious! I talk a lot about philosophy, media, hope, and video games.

Minecraft!

Minecraft has given me a way to create immersive environments in a fun way, and best of all, to let others explore them. Building in Minecraft has truly become one of my favorite art forms. If you want to see my builds, check out my youtube, insta, and twitter!

Other Art!

I dabble in a lot more art than just Minecraft, including woodcarving, digital drawing, environment design in Unity, and UI design. You can find examples on my portfolio!(I really need to update it...)

Additional Interests!

I have many very specific interests, such as puppet making, Pajama Sam, Humongous Entertainment, Lord of the Rings, wizards, buildings, production design, the Moody Blues, and science! There are more too! I'd be happy to nerd out about any of these things!

FAQ

Q: How is Jera pronounced? / Why do you say it like that?
A: Yer-uh, with the soft J that is a Y sound. It sounds similar to Sarah unless you say Sarah weird. Jera ᛃ is the elder futhark rune for j, and it means "year" or "harvest".
Q: What's your gender?
A: I'm agender nonbinary, which I generally just simplify to nonbinary. My pronouns are they/them. (Example: "Jera left their wizard hat here, can you bring it to them?")
Q: How long have you been playing Minecraft?
A: I started in May 2020, when I suddenly found myself with far too much time on my hands.
Q: Where do you live?
A: I'm in the Northeast USA, and my time zone is Eastern.
Q: I just found your channel! Where should I start?
A: There's no right answer of course, and it depends whether you're more interested in Minecraft or video essays. For Minecraft, I'd recommend my Crossroads series! For the video essays, I am currently most proud of "Doomerism, Sisyphus, and the Environmental Crisis."
